March Madness Drive from Santa Cruz to Los Gatos

On March 9th, we have a wonderful drive, in store for you for March Madness. It has a new starting point and a shorter but very exciting drive. We will meet at 10:00AM on Ocean Ave at the Santa Cruz Courthouse parking lot right across from the Jack in the Box at 640 Ocean Avenue which is an extension of Highway 17.  Easy peasy. The club will provide DONUTS from Saratoga (and maybe even raisins from Fresno).  JACK IN THE BOX has restrooms and coffee but be careful and use the crosswalk.  We will then do the most beautiful 28 miles imaginable with only five turns starting on Water Avenue and up the Empire Grade past UCSC to the Felton Turnoff.  Not only are the sights of the ocean and the fields beautiful but you can also see the rejuvenation of the forest from the forest fires of a couple of years ago. Cross Highway 9 in Felton, left on Mt. Hermon Road to 17 North to Redwood Estates Exit to Nonno’s Barbecue in Redwood Estates for a wonderful pizza and salad buffet for only $25. The picture you see is the outdoor pizza oven and the pizza that was consumed by the undersigned assisted by Les Hamilton and our President, Sandor Nagyszalanczy. There was nothing left.  Get ready for a GREAT March Madness Drive!!! (We will have the mileage and route guides for you.)
